I moved back to Oklahoma City in August of 2008 from Tulsa where I resided for 7 years. During those 7 years I became spoiled by a salon... yes, a salon. Marilyn Ihloff Salon, an Aveda salon.
A dear friend by the name of Stephanie Cherry introduced me to this magical salon and had been coloring and cutting my hair for the past 3-4 years.
When I moved back to Oklahoma City I was not yet ready to disconnect myself from Stephanie and the wonderful world of Marilyn Ihloff so I continued to commute back and forth to have my hair colored and cut.
I am a nurse and I work with a lot of women, some of which have great hairstyles and color. So one day I asked one for a reference for a hairstylist in Oklahoma City and so it began....
I never thought this would lead me on THE hunt for a (YES, ONE, singular) hairstylist that has the talent to do hair as well as my dear friend Stephanie Cherry. Granted, Stephanie was a friend before she was a hairstylist.
Here is my history with hair-- at the age of approximately 11 years old I began buying Seventeen magazine and became a little enthusiastic about hair, clothes, jewelry, and style in general. My Mom took me to her hairstylist and I would bring pictures of cuts and colors I wanted to try. Initially it was just cuts, but it progressed to color relatively quickly. So I have been having my hair done by a professional from a young age, and, without having attended beauty school, I do have some knowledge to how a good hair cut and color is done. Another big influence in my hair styles and colors over the years has been my Mom. Her only rule throughout my outrageous hair days has been that I was never allowed to color my own hair, furthermore a PROFESSIONAL must always color my hair- a rule I have only ONCE ever betrayed.
So that being said, my journey began, to the first hairstylist in Oklahoma City referred to me by a co-worker. I decided I needed a hairstylist in Oklahoma City since the commute back and forth to Tulsa for hair did not seem reasonable anymore.
At this point in time my hair was well past my shoulders, but not nearly halfway down my back and long enough to style into a bun on the side of my head as I frequently did. Blond, with bangs. I loved it, BUT I was feeling a bit of urgency to change it up....
